Festival of Sidecars, Mallory Pk. 5th Oct.

We found some more power with the new re-incarnation of the engine.
Roy and Dave won their heat, but a bad tyre choice in the A final saw them struggling in 4th place.
Making amends in the Dave Roberts race they were the first F2 home in 3rd place with the fastest F2 lap of 56.01 sec.
In the Kevin Lowdnes handicap they fought through to finish 2nd.
This engine is better than the last one, and we go to the last championship round with a mathematical chance of taking the championship at Pembrey 18/19 October.

ACU/FSRA British F2 Championship, Brands Hatch, 14th Sept.

With the engine performing well, especially when accelerating the Indy circuit seemed like the ideal lap, and 20 of them should lean towards Roy and Dave.

In the free practice they we 2nd quickest, and in qualifying 3rd.

Only 5th into paddock meant a bit of sorting out at the hairpin, which saw them in 3rd along the bottom straight.
After a bit of attention from Horsepole/Parnell they settled into the race.

On the 5th lap along the bottom straight the head dropped off an inlet valve causing massive damage and an early bath for Roy and Dave.

To say we are disappointed is an understatement, and Roy and Dave with a no-score drop from second in the table to 4th.
With the last round at Pembrey on 18/19th October we have to build another engine.

ACU/FSRA British F2 Championship, Castle Combe, 16/17th Aug.

After Donington, Roy and Dave were raring to go, but in the untimed practice the water-pump decided to let the engine oil through the inner seal and all but empty the sump into the tray.
There is probably only one item that cannot be changed in the frame, yes, the water-pump.

By taking out the engine bolts and jacking it up in the frame they managed to fit another pump in time for the qualifying session.
In this session the engine started over-heating and loosing power, but they managed 5th on the grid.
Checking that the system had been purged of air after the hurried pump change, it seemed that there was some air in it.

The race developed into a 4-way fight for 3rd place with Horsepole/Parnell, Bell/Bell, Roy and Dave, and Coombes/Partridge with hardly more than 2 seconds covering them all.

At the flag Cowe/Cox and Neary/Bond by some distance, then Horsepole/Parnell closely followed by Bell/Bell, Roy and Dave, and Coombes/Partridge.

Unlucky for Bell's they picked up a 10 second penalty for a jump-start and so were relegated to 6th.
Roy and Dave's 4th place keeps them in second position in the championship, 5 points behind new leader Crowe/Cox and 2 in front of Horsepole/Parnell.

Roy's next meeting Darley, with Julie as passenger, Mon 25th Aug.
