Steve Webster Trophy Race, Donington Park, 8/9th April.
Tom and Phil's first ride of the year on Team Hanni Racing's LCR Suzuki K2, started with problems.
The bike had a persistent misfire at 9000 which caused the ECU to show error after a couple of laps and shut down. This had showed itself in Germany in testing with Roscher and although the obvious electrics had been changed then it was still there.
After all the Friday qualifying Tom/Phil were down in 17th place.
With the unfortunate demise of the Birchalls (they have a K2 engine), Tom was able to borrow their camshaft sensor. The Saturday qualifying was wet, and although the bike seemed ok, and they finished 4th in this wet session, most everyone else had a quicker time from the dry sessions on Friday so they took 8th on the grid.
The race on Sunday was very wet with very cold driving rain.
There was a safety car incident on the third lap, that for some reason didn't allow the field to close on the 2 leaders, Reeves and Muldoon, so with the restart Tom and Phil eager to make up the deficit were straight through to 3rd place and closing on the leaders when on the 7th lap pushing the limit just too far they spun off at high speed at Swantz's and went upside down then flipping back nearly all the way to McLeans.

Luckily no damage to themselves, and no mega-damage to the outfit.

Roscher/Hanni had already damaged and then blown the engine on their own team bike, so it'll be a long journey back to Germany/Switzerland.

Tom and Phil are now riding at the Isle of Man TT Races in May and June, using the F2 that Klaffenbok used in 2005 that is now owned by Clive Stirrat.

This means they will miss the first world round at Schliez in May.
