Fim World CFIM World Championship, Sachsenring, Germany, 17/18th Sept.
Once again managing to get enough hire money for the bike, Jane and Co set off for Sachsenring.
A circuit new to them, and many others, a bike that you did not want to damage at any cost and torrential rain were not the conditions for "having a go".
All of the practice and qualifying was done in wet, wetter and flooded conditions. Riding with a view to damage limitation Tom and Phil ended up 8th on the grid.
For the Sprint race the track was dry, but in the dry the track was a whole different proposition.
Taking the long view they opted for caution to learn the track ready for the Gold race (22 laps).
They managed to come through to 6th position at the flag.
In the Gold race from their 8th on the grid they dropped to 10th on the first lap, but slowly worked their way through the field until in fifth place with Gallross/Briggs some 4 seconds in front of them.
In the last three laps they closed them down and on the last lap slipstreamed them along the straight, but as they drew level with them there was a "coming together" . Tom and Phil with a possible damage bill in the offing waited till the last corner to make the pass, sprinting to the line to beat them for 4th place by 1/10th second.
Tom and Phil will be at the Sidecar Festival, supporting mechanic Craig who will be riding his own Baker F1. ……...Mallory Park October 9th.

FIM World Championship, Holland, Assen 3/4th Sept.

Managing to get enough money together to hire the outfit for Assen, Tom and Phil were looking forward to a track they are very familiar with.
In the first qualifying they were second quickest, but problems in the second qualifying meant they didn't improve their time and ended up 8th on the grid.
In the race they were 9th on the first lap and gradually moved up to 3rd by the fifth lap.
On lap seven Phil was suffering cramps and in the next two laps they dropped to 9th, but then luckily, for them, the race was red-flagged due to incident and the result taken for the second part from lap 8. When they were still in 4th place.
With Phil suitably rested, etc, they started from 4th on the grid for the remaining six laps holding 2nd place from the second lap and setting fastest lap in this race. Tim and Tristan with their advantage from the first part did enough to win, but the 5.3 seconds Tom and Phil lead Laidlow/Farrance by was not enough to make up their first part deficit and so were overall 3rd.
With their disappointing season till Croatia, another sound result in the bag.
Last round Sachsenring, Germany Sept 17/18th.

FIM World Championship, Croatia, Rijeka. 20/21st August

Tom and Phil with the help of Adolf Haenni Racing and their friends have managed to go to Rijeka, Assen and if funds allow Sachsenring.
At their first ride of the year and on a strange, to them, machine they needed to restrain their natural exuberance and frustration and dial themselves in, if they were to avoid any damaging offs.
They did this remarkably well, qualifying in 6th position, and getting through to the semi's in the "match races".
Not feeling confident enough to get involved in the smash and crash of the 3 lap match-races.
In the first 10 lap race on the Saturday they finished in 6th position and were feeling more confident for the two Sunday races.
The Sunday 10 lapper was on a drying track and they shredded their intermediates and finished a disappointed 10th.
In the 20 lap race feeling more at home on the dry track, they finished in 2nd position, with the second fastest lap of the race.
Assen next 2/3 September.
