ACU/FSRA Super F2 Championship. Mallory Pk, Race of Year, Oct 16th.
Back at Mallory one week after the Festival for the final showdown.
Last week Roy and Dave did their fastest lap ever at 56.5 sec in, but still could only finish 3rd to Elmer and Neary in the A final.
In qualifying today they ended up in 3rd with Neary then Elmer, Roy and then Molyneux making a welcome return to mainland short circuits.
In the 15 lap race Roy and Dave would need several rabbits out of a hat.
Making a good start, unusually, they exited Gerrards in 4th place behind Moly, giving him the old "have that" at Edwina's to take 3rd place. Neary, Elmer, Roy and Dave with Moly never more than 1 second adrift pulled away from the rest of the field.
Elmer knew he only had to finish to be Champion secured 2nd place and when Neary gave it all to encourage a mistake from Elmer, Neary/Bond broke the two year old lap record with a lap of 55.7 sec to take the race win.
Congratulations to Tony Elmer and Darren Marshall 2006 Champions.

Remember Roy and Dave's motto, "We never give up".

ACU/FSRA Super F2 Championship, Mallory Park, 11th Sept.

With another cylinder fitted to stop "blow-out" Roy tested at Darley Moor on the bank-holiday meeting with Julie as passenger.
Ready to do battle at Mallory in the damp first qualifying they were second quickest, but in the dry qualifying the gear-box kept jumping out of 4th gear and they came in, slipping to 6th.
With some quick work by everyone able to hold a spanner they managed to change the engine with 20 minutes to spare.
There were two engines to choose from. Roy chose the one he had used at the TT in the practices managing 107 mph. This engine was very std, and the gear ratios while being ok for the TT were not the optimum for the stop go Mallory.
In the first race they fought their way to 3rd place but lost 3rd to Baker/White at the hairpin on the last lap.
The second race followed the same pattern as the first, with Roy and Dave managing to hold 3rd to the flag.
With Elmer and Neary beating them again, Roy and Dave trail Elmer by 15 and Neary by 7.
One meeting left…..ITS NOT OVER TILL THE FAT GRANDADS SING.

ACU/FSRA Super F2 Championship, Castle Combe, Sept 30/31.

This meeting was always going to be difficult for the F2 teams, as their championship races are within the "open" sidecar race, with the top F2's down on speed and power compared to the F1's, but hampered on the corners by the not so user-friendly F1 outfits.
Qualifying 8th overall, but the 3rd F2 behind Elmer/Marshall and Neary/Bond was business as usual for the top 3 championship contenders.
A major disappointment was the new chicane before the last real corner left on the circuit.
This resorted the racing to a series of sprints and late braking between the corners.
Roy and Dave made their customary bad start and were 14th out of the first corner. Elmer/Marshall had made a good start and were clear of any F1's that were going to make life difficult. Roy and Neary unfortunately were embroiled in a struggle with Lovelock and Stafford and some dubious passes and intimidation on the straights took place.
Roy and Dave finished 8th overall, 3rd F2.
The second race, with its restart allowed Roy and Dave to at last find a way of getting it off the line and a fine battle between Elmer/Marshall, Neary/Bond and Roy and Dave went to the flag with less than 2 seconds separating them.
This changes the championship, Elmer/Marshall lead Roy and Dave by 3 points who lead Neary/Bond by 3 points.
The lid on the pressure cookers' starting to rattle!
