FIM/UEM European Sidecar Championship, Cartegena, 9/10 October.
Well this has been the mother of all week-ends.
Not wishing to bore you with the details, but even with six engine changes, and rebuilds, two races, (one to replace Rijeka), Tom and Phil managed a 4th in the Saturday race with a slipping clutch from the start of the race, nursing it home to make sure of a score.
This let them start the final race of the series on Sunday, one and half points in the lead of the championship, but knowing that to be Champions they now had to beat Webster/Woodhead.
By the 4th lap Webster/Woodhead, Reeves/Reeves and Tom and Phil had pulled away from the pursuers, when the engine went sick and they pulled into the pits.

At the flag, for whatever reason, Reeves/Reeves took the win with Webster/Woodhead second.
Enough to give Webster/Woodhead the Championship, and Reeves/Reeves 2nd in the series by two and half points from Tom and Phil in 3rd.
Such is life.



FIM/UEM European Sidecar Championship, Schliez, 18/19th September.
Back at their least favourite track again within two weeks of the last visit, wasn't helped by a piston-pin failure that caused the piston to fall in half, but miraculously held together by the rings until the engine was stopped.
By the end of qualifying they were 5th on the grid, bettering their previous best time.
In the race they were in the front break-away holding a tight 4th place, when on the fourth lap Van Gils outfit, dropped oil onto the circuit.
Being in their slipstream, Tom and Phil spun on the fast uphill left, and flipped over onto the airbox.
This ripped off the carbs, and hurt Phil's arm. There was so much oil down, several other outfits also crashed on that lap and the race was red-flagged.
After much cleaning of the track, and several attempts at restarting the race, it was deemed unsafe and a result declared on 3 laps, but only half points awarded. Consequently Tom and Phil were given 4th position in the results.
Phil had to go to hospital for an x-ray, but was deemed fit to travel home.
